Alright, its not the most glamorous of subjects but good sanitation and drinking water are fundamental. Yet 1 in 3 people worldwide don’t have access to somewhere safe, private or hygienic to go to the toilet.
This has an enormous human and economic impact. For example, 60% of rural disease is caused by poor sanitation and every minute a child dies from diarrhoea diseases. So investing in sanitation is one of the most cost-effective forms of aid.
Also, provision of safe toilet facilities is of enormous benefit to women in societies where having to use the toilet in the open, renders them very vulnerable to attack.
So Belle Grove has invested in the Toilet Twinning programme. Why don’t you?
